Admissions in these Vidyalayas are accorded as per the admission guidelines of KVS. Admissions in Kendriya Vidyalayas are open for all children in the society; however priorities are drawn up among them in order to conform with the objectives of the Organisation i.e., to provide uninterrupted education to the wards of Central Govt. employees. The five categories in the order of priority are as follows:
a) Children of transferable and non-transferable Central government employees and children of ex- servicemen. This will also include children of Foreign National officials, who come on deputation or transfer to India on invitation by Govt. of India.

e) Children from any other category including the children of Foreign Nationals who are located in India due to their work or for any personal reasons. The children of Foreign Nationals would be considered only in case there are noChildren ofIndian Nationals waitlisted for admission.
(Preference in Admission to wards will be based on the number of transfers of the parents in the last 7 years)
The maximum ceiling of class strength in Kendriya Vidyalayas is fixed at 40 students per section. In the normal process, admissions are allowed in all the classes up to a maximum strength of 40 students per section. However, students who move from one place to another on the transfer of their parents are automatically admitted on the basis of TC issued by a KV, over and above this maximum ceiling. This is necessitated since the main objective of the Organization is to provide for uninterrupted education to children of transferrable employees.
In addition, admissions are also automatically done on the basis of the TCs issued by schools run by Armed Forces and Para Military Forces, irrespective of the class strength.
There is also a special provision for admitting children over and above the class strength i.e. under special dispensation quota of Hon’ble Human Resource Minister. Hon’ble Members of Parliament, Single girl child, ward of KVS staff, Chairmen quota, sponsoring agencies quota, quota for MEA etc
As a result, sometimes the class strength is crossing the prescribed class limit of 40 per section.
Vacancies of various teaching posts arise in Kendriya Vidyalayas due to retirement of teachers and creation of new posts owing to opening of new schools etc.
The recruitment of teachers in Kendriya Vidyalayas is an ongoing process done at All India level in which the candidates are required to appear in a written test followed by interview.
Of late 6170 teachers have been appointed in various Kendriya Vidyalayas after following the due procedure of recruitment.
