Exclusion of Urdu from NEET
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for Academic Session 2017-18 will be held on 07.05.2017 in Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil and Telugu.
The decision for conducting NEET – 2017 was taken in consultation with State/ UT Government in November, 2016 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
A representation was received on 04.01.2017 by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare from the Government of Maharashtra to conduct NEET – 2017 in Urdu Language also. The representation could not be considered due to paucity of time by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
However, the job of policy making on NEET examination is entrusted to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Currently, the matter relating to conduct of NEET in Urdu language is sub-judice in the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
