The Indian Medical Council Act is applicable for admission of medical students in whole of India, including the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The Hon’ble Supreme Court vide its order dated 28.4.2016 in writ petition No. 261/2016 filed by Sankalp Charitable Trust and otrs. Directed that AIPMT 2016 to be held on 1st May, 2016 shall be phase I of NEET and Phase II of NEET for the left out candidates shall be held on 24th July, 2016 by inviting fresh applications.
NEET would not disturb the admission policy of the States in medical education. The States still be free to select their own candidates against their seats, with the change that instead of using marks of State level exams they will use the scores of the NEET.
