However, the state government has revealed that this delightful hiatus will come to an end on June 16, 2024, as the schools in West Bengal are expected to reopen their doors on the following day, June 17. This news has sparked excitement and anticipation among students and parents alike, as they eagerly make plans for their summer adventures while cherishing the remaining days of relaxation and freedom.
West Bengal Public Holidays List 2024
The year 2024 brings with it a long list of public holidays in West Bengal. On the 12th of January, a Friday, we celebrate the Birth Day of Swami Vivekananda. Just a few days later, on the 23rd of January, a Tuesday, we commemorate Netaji’s birthday. Republic Day falls on the 26th of January, which is a Friday. As we move on to February, we have Saraswati Puja, also known as Sree Panchami, on the 14th, a Wednesday. The month of March brings Doljatra on the 25th, a Monday, followed by Good Friday on the 29th, a Friday. Then, on the 11th of April, a Thursday, we celebrate Eid-UI-Fitr. May Day, an international holiday, is on the 1st of May, which is a Wednesday.
Moving on to May, we have the Birth Day of Rabindranath Tagore on the 8th, also a Wednesday. Then, on the 23rd, a Thursday, we celebrate Buddha Purnima. The month of June brings Id-Ud-Zoha, also known as Bakrid, on the 17th, a Monday. As we reach July, we have Muharram on the 17th, a Wednesday.

As for the Winter Break, it is expected to commence on 23rd December 2024 and conclude on 13th January 2025, allowing students to celebrate the festive season and enjoy the chilly weather. However, it is important to note that the Headquarter of NVS (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti) will soon issue official orders regarding the Summer, Winter, and Autumn holidays for the academic year 2024-25.
