The Labour Bureau, an office that is connected to the Ministry of Labour & Employment, has the responsibility of compiling the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers on a monthly basis. This index is based on the retail prices collected from 317 markets across 88 industrially significant centers throughout the country. The compilation of this index includes data for both the 88 centers and for the entire nation, and it is released on the last working day of the following month. In this press release, we are announcing the release of the index for the month of October, 2023.
According to the latest data, the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers for October, 2023 has increased by 0.9 points and now stands at 138.4 (one hundred thirty eight point four). In terms of percentage change over the span of one month, there has been an increase of 0.65 percent compared to the previous month. This is slightly lower than the increase of 0.91 percent that was recorded between the corresponding months of the previous year.
