Central Govt Declares 4% Dearness Allowance for Kendriya Vidyalaya Teachers from January 2023
The Cabinet has given approval for the release of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief to Central Government employees and pensioners, correspondingly, beginning on January 1st, 2023. The disbursement encompasses a 4% increment from the current 38% of Basic Pay/Pension to combat inflation, and will impact the exchequer by an approximate total of Rs. 12,815.60 crore annually.
Approximately 47.58 lakh Central Government employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners will benefit from the rise in accordance with the 7th Central Pay Commission’s recommendations. The Dearness Allowance rate will be 42% as of March 2023, along with payment of arrears for January and February 2023. A Dearness Allowance calculator based on pay matrix level and basic pay can be used by Central Government employees to determine the precise amount of their increase.
DA Hike for KV School Teachers
The Ministry of Education, Government of India supervises the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, which is a collection of government schools in India. Currently, this network has 1,248 schools throughout India, in addition to three more in Moscow, Tehran, and Kathmandu. It is maintained by 25 Regional Offices and 05 ZIETs (Zonal Institute of Education and Training) under KVS (HQ), making it the largest school network in India and one of the largest in the world. The Kendriya Vidyalaya provides a uniform compensation structure for its teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as pensioners and family pensioners, which includes basic pay, DA, and other allowances.
How DA Calculate for KVS Teaching Staff
An announcement has been made stating that all employees including teaching and non-teaching staff members at Kendriya Vidyalayas will receive an additional 4% DA in March 2023’s salary. It has been clarified that arrears for January and February will be paid separately. The basic salary of KVS employees and officers, such as TGT, PGT, and PRT teachers, will determine their increased DA salary. For example, if a KV school teacher receives a basic pay of Rs. 42,300 (pay level 6), they will receive Rs. 17,766 as DA in March 2023. This is an increase in comparison to the previous amount of Rs. 16,074, with the DA hike amounting to Rs. 1,692.
DA Arrears Calculation in KVS
KV employees will be receiving a Dearness Allowance of 42% in March 2023 as soon as the Finance Ministry issues the order. The payment of DA arrears for January and February will be calculated and paid separately. For example, an employee of KV with a basic pay of Rs. 40,400 (pay level 5), who previously received Rs. 16,968 as DA, will now receive Rs. 16,532 in March 2023, which is a difference of Rs. 1,692. Additionally, the arrears for this employee will be equal to Rs. 3,384.
